Yesterday i decided to get off my ass and ride. It was about 25 degrees out with no wind. i got on my old 1988 GT Karakoram and rode out to Sandstone Ranch on the new bike path in Longmont. I was having great fun sliding my rear wheel around the slippery corners.
The eastern end of the bike path had been cleared, but last weeks North wind blew in a snow cover with 6 inch drifts. The new blown in snow proved easier than the accumulated foot prints. Riding frozen footprints reminded me of the south side of the new Valmont Bike Park cyclocross course. Bumpy enough to start worrying about your fillings.
On the way back home i got a little too confident in my bike handling skills and went down hard on my left hip on the downhill pathway under Rt 119. Ouch. Got up and rode hard the west of the way home without further incident. It turned out to be a great ride on a cool but sunny day.
